Scaly Keratin Structure
Goat hair, as seen under an electron microscope, has a relatively thick fiber diameter and a scaly outer surface. This feature causes sound waves to experience high resistance and suffer greater energy loss while traveling through goat hairs. The scaly keratin structure, which is more prominent and rougher than other staple fibers, increases the surface area of the goat hair, making the flow path of sound waves more complex and increasing flow resistance; this leads to higher sound absorption, especially at middle and high frequencies.
This approach, which forms the basis of the acoustic performance of goat hair nonwoven surface panels, has been developed as a result of R&D studies based on scientific principles by Marterm and is offered as a non-flammable, patented product with <strong>60% higher performance</strong> compared to its competitors.
Under the electron microscope, the scale structures on the surface of the goat hair fiber are clearly visible. These structures are among the key factors increasing sound absorption performance.
